Computer Algebra and Geometrical Optics II: The Eikonal of a Symmetric Optical System

Many computations in geometrical optics are traditionally done by pencil and paper. In this paper we shall show how a computer algebra system is a convenient and efficient tool for computing the eikonal of an axially symmetric optical system.
