Notice from the Editors

This is the third issue of the SAC Newsletter. Notice that the SAC Newsletter is not a refereed periodical: it is up to the members of the editorial board to decide among themselves whether a submitted article is accepted or not. The editorial board for this issue is composed of André Heck (CAN/Amstel Institute, University of Amsterdam), Tomas Recio (University of Cantabria, Santander), and Franz Winkler (RISC, Linz)

As a reminder for the reader, we would like to point out that the SAC Newsletter's aim is to disseminate

The target group of readers consists of researchers, engineers, teachers, and users of systems dealing with Symbolic and Algebraic Computation.

The SAC Newsletter is published

Up to now the Newsletter has been funded by RIACA, Amsterdam, in the framework of the European SAC Network (supported by a HCM project that ended last December 1997, see the enclosed final report).

Therefore this is the last issue of the SAC Newsletter within this framework. We have received some feed back from the readers, showing their appreciation of our effort. This allow us to be moderately optimistic about the positive impact of this editorial experience for the SAC community.

Encouraged by you, we are working towards the continuation of a Symbolic Algebraic Computation Newsletter in a different scheme (perhaps in association with commercial partner). Until then, Thank you and See you later!
